講題：Recent Development in 2D Materials from Synthesis to Potential Applications
Since 2004, scientist successfully extracted out of single layer of carbon film from graphite, leading to the research upsurge of 2D materials for over a decade. Because of the excellent properties, both of graphene and TMDCs had been regarded as versatile materials for the next generation. However, at the early stage of research, the fabrication of 2D materials by scotch tape is troublesome due to the time-consuming process and low yields. As being a materials scientist, how did we make contributions to this puzzle? Second part of this presentation is focusing on next potential 2D materials inclusive of compound 2D materials, such as MoS2 and single element 2D materials, such as silicene, phosphorene and tellurene, which possessed energy band gaps and superior electron transport properties over MoS2. However, the development of manufacturing approach was lagging, hampering the basic research and further applications. This project for the first time propose a reliable method of growing single element 2D materials by employing catalyzing metals, and exploring the diffusion behavior between the catalytic metal and Te vapor at the interface.
