Chemical-free seawater pretreatment for RO desalination is feasible and practical.

The chemicals used in pretreatment incurs adverse effects.

Ultrafiltration is expensive and doesn’t solve the problem of membrane biofouling.

Membrane + Electrochemical could turn brine from waste into wealth.
