摘要 :

Because of the intrinsic basic property, metal oxides can be applied in catalysis and CO2 capture. It is important to have good metal oxide dispersion for the applications. For this purpose, we utilize metal-organic framework (MOF) to support metal oxides. Metal cations are loaded in preformed MOFs in a basic solution to form metal hydroxide, which is further dehydrated to form metal oxide confined in MOF microporosity. In the first part of the presentation, we incorporate MgO nanoparticles in ZIF-8 (MgO@ZIF-8) as the catalyst for transesterification reaction. The synergistic effect between basic MgO and acidic ZIF-8 makes the composite effective in the reaction. Later, we prepare MgO@ZIF-8 and ZnO@ZIF-8 for CO2 capture. Compared to ZnO which cannot be confined in MOFs, MgO@ZIF-8 shows well-dispersed MgO, and the CO2 adsorption is much higher than the combination of MgO and ZIF-8 individually. Lastly, by MOF pyrolysis, we try to prepare metal oxide nanoparticles on MOF-derived carbon for CO2 capture and storage.
