Abstract

Metal-catalyzed C–H functionalizations have been intensively developed utilizing various metal catalysts under homogeneous conditions. However, contamination of trace toxic metals in final products and recyclability of expensive catalysts represent a major problem in purification, further increasing the cost. One of our research interest is to target the development of recyclable and easily separable heterogeneous catalytic systems for these transformations. In addition, heterogeneous catalysis for fluorination/trifluoromethylation has not yet been achieved, likely due to the requirement of challenging electronic and steric conditions. With increasing demand for fluorinated compounds in industry production, we have paid much attention in developing novel protocols in introducing fluorine into organic compounds using solid material catalysts. Experimental data indicated that radical pathway is more preferred under heterogeneous catalysis.
