摘要

      Bimetallic nanocatalyst often showed enhanced performance where the key lies not only on the overall composition but more importantly, is related to the specific atomic arrangement of the two metal elements on and near surface regions. In order to make the most out of bimetallic nanocatalyst, it is important to understand how to control its near surface elemental arrangement as well as how it behaves under actual reaction environments. Our research focuses on acquiring a fundamental understanding on the factors governing the near surface structure of bimetallic nanocatalyst under thermal and chemical environments. The environmental transmission electron microscopy (ETEM) is a valuable tool we utilized to investigate the dynamic responses of bimetallic nanocatalyst under reactive environments in situ. The discoveries proves applicable to catalyst processing and prediction of bimetallic nanocatalyst structure under working conditions. In particular, the regioselectivity atomic rearrangement on Ag-Pt octahedral nanoalloys assisted by chemical vapors, the discovery of the Ag-Pt compositional intermetallic using nanoalloys as the starting material, and the structure evolution of metal-on-metal Rh-on-Pd nanocatalyst under CO2 hydrogenation conditions will be covered in this presentation.
